SBA To Open Shuttered Venue Operators Grants For Applications Today

The U.S. Small Business Administration will officially open the Shuttered Venue Operators Grant (SVOG) application portal today at noon for operators of live venues, live performing arts organizations, museums and movie theatres, as well as live venue promoters, theatrical producers and talent representatives to apply for critical economic relief, as those eligible entities are some of the first that had to shutter their doors a year ago in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Fulton Officials Thank Assemblyman Barclay for $100,000 Grant at Veterans Park

City officials invited NYS Assemblyman Will Barclay to Fulton to thank him for his work in securing a $100,000 legislative grant to install a stairway at Veterans Park. The cement stairway will connect Veterans Park on South First Street across from City Hall to the Oswego River waterfront. Barclay was welcomed by city officials, local volunteer effort leaders, and veterans as they commended him for his help in securing funds. “It’s very important to us because for years we’ve been trying to develop our waterfront,” Fulton Mayor Ronald Woodward Sr. said. “I’m really excited, I think the people of Fulton should give a lot of thanks to Assemblyman Barclay. He’s been very good for Fulton.”

Fulton Footpaths Applies for Construction Grant

Fulton Footpaths, the volunteer committee working to create a system of multi-use heritage trails throughout the city of Fulton, has applied for a state-funded grant for the first phase of trail construction. Submitted to the NYS Department of State, the application for funding is to cover costs derived from a feasibility study to construct two out of eight total trails. The grant would fund up to $900,000 for construction work- a monetary value figured from a feasibility study completed by Syracuse-based Environmental Design and Research (EDR) that was secured through prior grant funding. The first construction grant will target the Pathfinder Canal Towpath Trail (four miles) and the Canalview Bridge Walk Trail (1.8 miles.)
