May had a cool start but a warm ending, according to Bill Gregway, local observer for the National Weather Service. The average temperature for May was 0.7-degree warmer than average. Total precipitation for May was 1.77 inches. That is 1.53 inches below where it should be.

Hurricane Irene Slides Around Oswego County

The Oswego County area was spared the brunt of Hurricane Irene’s fury. “We were lucky. We have had to deal with some branches and a few limbs,” according to Bill Gregway, local observer for the National Weather Service. “Other places, just a little south and east of here have a lot more damage, flooding and power outages.”

July Was One Of The Warmest On Record

July's weather was perfect for taking a cruise.

The average temperature last month was 74.0 degrees. That is 3.2 degrees warmer than normal. “That makes it the seventh warmest July since 1845,” according to Bill Gregway, local observer for the National Weather Service. “Last July wound up number six; it was 74.1.”
