Some golfers might consider playing in their first varsity match a bit of a nerve-racking experience. A competitive environment, an unfamiliar course, and the added pressure of knowing that the team is depending on your score is usually enough to break a first-timer, send their score soaring over par.
Oswego High School Principal Brian Hartwell is proud to announce the final honor roll for the 2010-2011 school year.
Along with these dates this is a reminder that all students who are interested in participating in sports during the 2011-12 school year must have an updated sports physical in order to play.
Through the tremendous support of the Buccaneer Boosters, Director of Physical Education and Athletics Scott Sugar is proud to announce that nominations are now being accepted for this year’s Oswego Athletic Hall of Fame class which will be inducted on Oct. 1.
“We look at commencement as a beginning,” said OHS Principal Brian Hartwell. “It doesn’t mean we’re going to forget old friendships but you look forward to the rest of your life and you start to live your life. It’s exciting; it really is exciting.” The speakers told the class to never forget the friends they made in high school – but to also go out into the world and make new friends and achieve great things.
The Oswego High School team was the winner of the first ever U.S. Army Fitness Challenge competition held for county high schools. Members had to do two minutes of pushups and situps and run a timed two-mile course with points being awarded.
The annual Oswego High School awards ceremony recognized numerous deserving, hardworking and dedicated students. Through the generosity of parents, families, businesses and community oriented organizations Oswego High School students benefited greatly with the awarding of numerous scholarships worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.
When the majority of the Oswego High School “Class of 2011” receive their diploma at the June 25 graduation ceremony at SUNY Oswego’s Campus Center they will be headed toward their next step in life.
The Oswego Sunrise Rotary welcomed members of the Oswego High School Interact Club and honored them for their many community service projects. Interact is a Rotary-sponsored youth service club that provided opportunities for young people of secondary school age to work together in a world of fellowship of service and international understanding.
The Oswego High School Top 100 students were recognized for the twenty-second consecutive year. Several hundred people packed the Oswego High School Dining Hall for the annual “Top 100” dinner. Oswego Rotary, Alliance Bank and the Oswego City School District hosted the event with the Oswego City School District Food Service Department supplying a buffet extravaganza.
