Union, CENG Reach Tentative Pact
Representatives of Constellation Energy Nuclear Group and IBEW Local 97 have reportedly reached an agreement that could put an end to the strike at the Scriba nuclear power plants.
“CENG’s top priority is safety; we will not jeopardize our ability to operate the facility safely. Constellation Energy Nuclear Group’s continued focus is on maintaining safe, reliable operation of the plants. We would never do anything to jeopardize our ability to operate the facility safely,” said Jill Lyon, company spokesperson.
Members of IBEW Local 97 question the ability and training of the people currently operating Constellation Energy’s nuclear plants at Nine Mile Point. Some of the speaker urged the county to step in and get the two sides back to the bargaining table. Oswego County Legislature Chairman Barry Leemann said the county is concerned about the situation and is willing to assist.
