The Lakeside Artisans’ featured artist for the month of May is Sandra Dowie. She recently moved to the area. Dowie is passionate about her paintings, jewelry, pottery, and especially her equestrian art. The artist and one of her daughters, Marcella, make a vibrant and artistically knowledgeable team.

As May started, officials at Fort Ontario announced it was closed for the season, and maybe for ever due to the state budget crisis. However, at the end of the month, the state came through with the needed funds to keep the fort open. The average temperature last month, 60.6 degrees, was more than4 degrees higher than average and appears to also be the third warmest May on record in the Port City.
