On Monday (March 19) morning, Shawn Whaley, 24, appeared before the Hon. James McCarthy, Oswego County Supreme Court, and pleaded guilty to the entire indictment that was filed against him. Whaley, whose jury trial was scheduled to begin Monday, pleaded guilty to 13 separate offenses, including six felonies that occurred in the town of Albion during the summer of 2017.
Joyce Malone had her sentencing postponed once again. In Oswego County Court this morning (April 8), her attorney Jim Eby, told Oswego County Court Judge Walt Hafner that his client had been hospitalized on Monday. She is hooked up to IVs in Oswego Hospital, he said.
Assistant District Attorney Gregory Oakes wrapped up his case against Joyce Malone on Wednesday. The defense will continue calling witnesses on Thursday. Malone is accused of killing her husband last March in their Oswego Town home. The trial is likely to last through early next week.
The former Hannibal bus driver who was accused of having sexual intercourse with a teenager has been sentenced to prison time. Jeanine M. Buske, 33, pleaded guilty to third-degree rape and was sentenced to 1-½ to 3 years in state prison. Buske is presently in custody at the Oswego County Correctional Facility, awaiting transfer to a state facility. […]
An Oswego County grand jury has returned an indictment against Jay J. Barboni, the man accused of causing the death of his girlfriend’s 15-month-old son in Fulton. The toddler died Aug. 18 while in Barboni’s care. Barboni will be arraigned Friday on one count of second-degree murder, one count of first-degree manslaughter and one count of second-degree manslaughter. […]
At the end of a preliminary hearing Tuesday, Fulton City Court Judge Spencer Ludington ruled that there is sufficient evidence to hold the case against Jay J. Barboni for grand jury action. Barboni is accused of causing the death of his girlfriend’s 15-month-old son Aug. 18. He remains in custody at the Oswego County Correctional Facility without bail. […]
