Oswego State Women’s Basketball Defeats Cazenovia 66-55

Sophomore Kayla Ryan (Schaghticoke, N.Y.) exploded for 33 points to help the Oswego State women’s basketball team close out the first half of the season with a 66-55 victory at Cazenovia on Friday night. The Lakers held a 22-point halftime advantage, but had to hold off a late Wildcat charge for the win. Oswego State improved to 3-5 overall, while Cazenovia dropped to 1-5.

Oswego State men’s hockey players Eric Selleck (So., Spencerville, Ont.) and Jon Whitelaw (Fr., Huntsville, Ont.) have been named the SUNY Athletic Conference Men’s Hockey Player and Rookie of the Week for the week ending December 13, 2009. The top-ranked Lakers improved to 13-1-0 overall and matched a program-best 12-game winning streak after going 3-0 last week .

Oswego State Men’s Ice Hockey Closes Out 2009 With 5-1 Over Hobart

After playing its fifth game in nine days, the top-ranked Oswego State men’s ice hockey team wrapped up 2009 with a 5-1 victory over Hobart College on Saturday at the Campus Center Arena. Freshman Jon Whitelaw (Huntsville, N.Y.) was the Lakers’ top scorer with two goals and two assists, as Oswego State extended its winning streak to 12 games, matching a program-best mark. The Lakers improved to 13-1-0 overall, while the Statesmen dropped to 5-6-2.

Oswego State Men’s Ice Hockey Defeats Hamilton 8-2

Behind four goals and two assists from Justin Fox (Jr., Whitby, Ont.) and Eric Selleck (So., Spencerville, Ont.), the top-ranked Oswego State men’s ice hockey team defeated Hamilton College 8-2 on Friday night in Clinton, N.Y. The Lakers faced a 2-1 deficit after the first period, but scored five goals in the second to take control of the game. Oswego State goalie Paul Beckwith (So., Cleveland, Ohio) recorded 21 saves on 23 shots, while the Lakers moved to 12-1-0 overall. The Continentals fell to 3-3-1.

Oswego State Men’s Ice Hockey Stages Comeback For 5-4 Win At Utica

The Oswego State men’s ice hockey team trailed throughout much of the contest, but scored two third period goals to come away with the 5-4 win over Utica at the Utica Memorial Auditorium on Tuesday night. Justin Fox (Jr., Whitby, Ont.) tallied the game-winning goal at 9:53 in the third period, as the top-ranked Lakers improved to 11-1-0 overall. The Pioneers fell to 4-6-2 overall on the season.
