Family And Books (FAB) Provides Family Fun and Free Books

<br />Enjoying a book at Family and Books (FAB), a six-week reading program for preschool aged children through first graders, are Wendy and Kyle Fragale at the Oswego location.  Although the program has already begun, there are still spots available, so sign up today! For more information or to register, call the LVOC office at 342-8839.

Literacy Volunteers of Oswego County, in partnership with Head Start Center Fort Ontario, Pinewood Head Start Center, and Pulaski Early Learning Center, is proud to announce the early success of its new family literacy program. Children and parents attended the FAB program on Wednesday, July 8th, and left with smiles and a free book. Interactive sessions were held to teach parents about the importance of choosing age appropriate books and to enrich the children’s understanding of the book that was read through crafts and activities. Summer Reading Challenges Due Back to Barclay’s Office

The 2008 Summer Reading Challenge entitled “Catch the Bug” encouraged children to read with their parents or by themselves for at least 15 minutes each day during the months of July and August.  More than 5,000 Summer Reading Brochures were circulated to schools and libraries within the 124th Assembly District.  Many local libraries participated in matching “bug” themed events throughout the summer to promote reading.
