We didn’t hit 100 degrees today. But, we did break a record. At 11 a.m. Thursday, the mercurcy reached 93 degrees and tied the record high set in 1994. By noon it was 95 degrees and we had a new record. The last time it was this hot was Aug. 14, 2002 when the mercury hit 97 degrees.
Summer begins at 7:28 a.m. today, taking over from a spring that was the warmest on record. The average temperature for spring 2010 was 50.8 degrees. That is 5.9 degrees warmer than usual, according to Bill Gregway, local observer for the National Weather Service.
Even though it snowed in April, the first time since Feb. 28, last month goes into the record books as the warmest April on record. The average temperature last month was 51.7 degrees. That’s 7 degrees above average – and the warmest on record since 1844. […]
