Hudson River Plane Crash Survivor Shares Story Of Hope

Dave Sanderson, delivers his message of teamwork and hope at  Wednesday's annual meeting of the United Way.

The United Way of Greater Oswego County gathered Wednesday to thank all the volunteers who help the county “Live United.” The annual meeting also featured an inspirational message about how teamwork can save lives. The guest speaker, Dave Sanderson, told how teamwork helped him and others survive an emergency landing in the Hudson River.

Children’s Board and Red Cross Club Collaborate for Christmas Giving

Local members of the Oswego Children’s Board and the Red Cross Club met to shop for local families in need.  Participants include  Red Cross member Margo McBrearty; Maria Mutabdzic, Oswego Children's Board; Teresa Korbesmeyer, FLS teacher; Jackie Carroll and Alexandrea Orr, club members; Roberta Barbera, Red Cross and Children’s Board representative, and Joshua Carroll, club member.The Children’s Board of Oswego and the local Red Cross Chapter formed an alliance to provide Christmas gifts to local families in need. The Red Cross Club is a group of students who meet to raise money for the Red Cross, develop leadership skills, and to form friendships through caring and working with other Red Cross members.

Bridges To Caring Walk Raises Funds For Local Disaster Services

</p>Winners of the Red Cross Bridges to Caring coloring contest, sponsored by Pathfinder Bank are (l – r) Naomi Abrahams 4 – 6 grade winner, Bette Pryor, representing Pathfinder Bank and Noah Horning K – 3 grade winner.  Each winner was presented with a $50 savings bond.

On Saturday, September 27th at 8:00am in the pouring rain the American Red Cross Bridges to Caring Walk began.  Even though it was raining and cold, a generous public turned out to help the Red Cross raise over $11,000 to help provide services to residents of our communities.  There were employee groups from Constellation Energy, Windstream Communications, Birdseye Foods, many single walkers and family groups as well.

Learning CPR and the use of an automated external defibrillator can mean the difference between knowing how to save a life or not.  The American Red Cross knows that administering CPR AED within the first few minutes of a medical emergency is crucial to the survival of the victim.  To give the public the opportunity to learn these important lifesaving skills community classes are offered regularly at the Oswego branch office of the American Red Cross.
