Mayor Barlow Announces Grand Opening Of $10 Million William S. Cahill Pier

Mayor Billy Barlow announced today the grand opening of the William S. Cahill, Jr Pier in the City of Oswego. The $10 million construction project transforms an old abandoned coal trestle into a new, modern, waterfront park, allowing for public access from land, boating access from Lake Ontario, and additional fishing opportunities for visitors and residents. The pier also features a walking path down the middle, a boardwalk style path around the perimeter, and a decorative fountain towards the end. Mayor Barlow Announces Grand Opening Event For Cahill Pier Wednesday August 16

Mayor Billy Barlow announced today the City of Oswego will host a special grand opening event for the new William S. Cahill Pier on Wednesday, August 16. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a ribbon cutting declaring the new pier officially open to the public followed by live music featuring The SkyCoasters. Th event is open to the public. Food trucks and drinks will be available for purchase. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating.

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Officially Welcomes Fulton ALDI Store

A plentiful crowd filled the area’s newest ALDI store as a ribbon cutting ceremony officially welcomed the international grocery chain to Fulton. One of more than 1,600 ALDI stores throughout the United States, the Fulton store located at 555 S. Fourth St. boasts a fresh, modern look with priority on providing quality, affordable products to shoppers. Mayor Ronald Woodward welcomed ALDI to Fulton, a project that was “a long time coming” before store manager, Todd Moore cut the ribbon and declared the store officially open. “I feel relieved, glad, and now I’m looking forward to developing the remaining 22 acres of that site and I think Aldi will be a great draw for others,” Mayor Woodward told Oswego County Today.

Catholic Charities Showcases New Fulton Location

A generous donation has allowed Catholic Charities of Oswego County in Fulton to upgrade to an 80,000-square foot building, a growth of nearly 50,000 square feet from its previous location. Originally founded in the 1930s as an adoption agency, Catholic Charities has since evolved into a mid-sized human service agency to serve families, children, and adults throughout Oswego County and in the past two years have doubled their staff and have worked to meet increasing needs. The new location at 808 W. Broadway was donated by Michael Falcone and family, a family very involved with the Syracuse Diocese and giving back to the community. Supervisors and staff beamed with gratefulness and pride as they unveiled the new location.
