Rotarians Hear About Port of Oswego

At a recent Fulton Sunrise Rotary meeting, Rotarian Dan Farfaglia,  left,  introduced Jonathan Daniels.  Daniels who is the Executive  Director of the Port of Oswego, gave us a highly articulate overview of  the way in which the Port Authority, operated by the State of New York,  fits into and influences the overall economy of our region.  The  Authority is seeking to expand exports for a world market and a 3.5  million dollar project is in progress near Fort Ontario for much needed  space.   The Fulton Sunrise Rotary meets every Friday at 7 AM at  Fulton's Riverside Inn.The Authority is seeking to expand exports for a world market and a 3.5 million dollar project is in progress near Fort Ontario for much needed space.

Rotarians Hear About Urgent Care Expansion Plans

 Oswego Health’s Public Relations Manager, Marion Ciciarelli,  left, presented a program at a recent Fulton Rotary Club meeting.     Oswego Health announced earlier this month that they had received a $17  million grant to refurbish the former Fulton Hospital into an Urgent  Care Center.  On the first floor, the former patient rooms will become  the Urgent Care area, while the rest of the floor will become an  enhanced Xray, MRI, laboratory, and service area.  The basement level  will give the facility a new kitchen to service the adjacent nursing  home, laundry and physical therapy area.  The present Urgent Care Center  has handled over 20,000 patients during its first year. Program Chair,  Rotarian Betty Fadden, right, introduced Ms. Ciciarelli. Rotarians Hear About College’s Expansion Plans

Dr. Daniel Larson, President of Cayuga Community College, left,  recently spoke at the Fulton Rotary Club.  Rotarian Program Chairperson,  Gary McIlvain, right, introduced Dr. Larson.  Dr. Larson reviewed the  history of the Fulton campus from 91 students in 1994 to over 1,300  students in 2010.  Presently, they occupy over 50,000 square feet of  space in a "store front" setting on state Route 3 West.  They  have degree programs in 12 different majors.  High school students in  over 40 area high schools participate in college level courses at CCC.   Dr. Larson discussed how the college also serves the part time learning  community in their continuing education programs.  The college strives  to be pro-business.  Dr.  Larson also discussed how the college is  running out of room and is in the process of searching for larger and  more suitable space.Dr. Larson reviewed the history of the Fulton campus from 91 students in 1994 to over 1,300 students in 2010.

Rotarians Hear About Logo Debate

G. Ray Bodley High School senior, Morgan Mirabito, left, recently  spoke to the Fulton Rotary Club regarding the best logo and icon for the  Fulton Red Raiders.  The symbol of the indian head has been used for  over a hundred years by Fulton High School.  The students and staff have  been discussing the continuation of the present icon, modifying it, or  changing to a new icon.  The committee working on the logo project  have  developed a survey, which has been in area papers, so that the  community and students may vote on their preferences.  Adam Wolford  assisted Morgan in the presentation.  Superintendent of Schools, William  Lynch, right, introduced the students.The symbol of the Indian head has been used for over a hundred years by Fulton High School. Rotarians Hear About Fort Ontario

At a recent Fulton Sunrise Rotary meeting, Rotarian Diane  Cooper-Currier introduced Paul Lear, Historic Site Manager of Fort  Ontario.  Paul talked about the history of the Fort from the early  1800's to the fifties and sixties when it became a State Park.    Unfortunately, this park, which has contributed so much to history and  gave so much pleasure to  thousands of visitors, is among the 13 State  Parks targeted for closure by the State.    The Fulton Sunrise Rotary  meets every Friday at 7 AM at Fulton's Riverside Inn.At a recent Fulton Sunrise Rotary meeting, Rotarian Diane Cooper-Currier introduced Paul Lear, Historic Site Manager of Fort Ontario.

Oswego Rotary Sets Pancake Breakfast

Join your friends and neighbors for breakfast on Sunday, May 2, at the Oswego Rotary Club’s 29th annual pancake breakfast. It will be held again this year at the Oswego High School cafeteria. Customers are welcome to eat in the cafeteria or come inside and get carry-outs.

Fulton Rotarians Hear From Foreign Exchange Student

Rotarian, Judy Young, left, introduced Johanna Dominquez, right,  at a recent Fulton Rotary Club meeting.  Johanna is the Rotary exchange  student sponsored by the Fulton Rotary Club and the Fulton Sunrise  Rotary Club.  Johanna is spending her Junior year at G. Ray Bodley High  School this year.  Each Rotary exchange student spends one school year  in another country, and will live with three families during her school  year.  Johanna's talk compared her life and her schooling in a small  seaside resort in southern France to her year in Fulton.  Judy is the  student exchange counselor for the Rotary Club. High school students  interested in studying in another country for a year should contact Mrs.  Young.Johanna’s talk compared her life and her schooling in a small seaside resort in southern France to her year in Fulton.
