Rotarians Learn About Fulton Water Department

John Florek, left, head of the City of Fulton Water Department, recently gave the Fulton Rotarians an informative and interesting talk.  John has worked in the municipal water business for 38 years, with 34 of those years with the City of Fulton.  The Fulton municipal water system dates from 1885, when four 20 by 20 foot wells were hand dug.  One of the original wells is still in use, but most of the water comes from the 9 wells on the Great Bear Farm, which was purchased by the city in the 1960's.  Mr. Florek covered several water problems he has witnessed during his tenure with the water department.  At the present time, Fulton produces 1.4 million gallons of water each day, down from a high of 4 million gallons when all of the Fulton industries were in operation.  Fulton Rotary Club president, Gerald Seguin is thanking John for his interesting presentation.

Rotarians Hear About Weekly Free Meal Program For Needy People

At a recent Fulton Sunrise Rotary meeting, Rotarian Sharon Foster, right, introduced Lynn Bullard who is instrumental in All Saints Episcopal Church Outreach program. This program is funded by a Mission Grant through the Diocese of CNY. The grant was written with plans of feeding 30 people weekly, but attendance has grown substantially. Meals are organized into 4 monthly menus - each one headed by a volunteer who is in charge of making sure it all comes together. Anyone interested in volunteering or helping in other ways can contact Lynn at All Saints Episcopal Church. Rotarians Hear About Upcoming Tax Season

At a recent Fulton Sunrise Rotary Club meeting, Rotarian Michelle Handley introduced Romey Caruso of RJ Caruso Tax & Accounting.  Romey explained some changes for the upcoming tax year such as long-time residency credit and American Opportunity credit for undergraduates.  He also said there have been 10,000 new IRS auditors  hired who will diligently detail most all documents for unsubstantiated credits.    The Fulton Sunrise Rotary Club meets every Friday at 7 AM at Fulton's Riverside Inn.

This agency’s focus is providing care for seniors living at home, in fact their tagline is “Keeping the caring at home.” Their goal is to offer the care and help necessary to permit loved ones to stay in the security and comfort of their own homes.

Rotarians Meet With Rotary Official

At a recent Fulton Sunrise Rotary meeting, Rotarian Dan Farfaglia, right, introduced Dan Young who is our representative to our Governor.  Dan is the representative for Central New York and four other countries.   A large part of his responsibilities is handling the briefings for the Governor when he is traveling.  Dan elaborated on Governor Patterson's State of the State message from last week and encouraged anyone to contact him with questions.
