Kingford Park Alumni Receive Scholarship

Kingford Park Home and School Inc. awarded two scholarships in the amount of $500 each to KPS alumni Colin Morgan and Christopher Pike. This is the second year that KPS Home and School has awarded scholarship dollars to students who attended grades K – 6 at the elementary school.

Minetto Recognizes Its Sixth Graders

Minetto Elementary School recently conducted its sixth grade honors program. Involved in the event were (in front) Corey Stevens (Principal’s Citizenship Award) and Douglas Schneider (Triple C) while in back are Principal Dean Goewey, Rachel Godden (Principal’s Citizenship Award), Minetto alum and OHS salutatorian Justine Harrington, Hannah Strzelinski (Triple C) and Minetto alum and OHS senior David Caramella.

Minetto Elementary School sixth graders were in the spotlight at the annual honors program conducted before a cafeteria-packed with parents, friends, family and staff members.

Leighton Sixth Graders Earn Recognition

The Frederick Leighton Elementary School STARR Awards were presented recently. This year’s recipients were Desiree Myers and Lisa Kanbur and they were congratulated by guidance counselor Sarah Dodd, teacher Jennifer Symborski and FLS Principal Julie Burger.

The school year has ended at the Frederick Leighton Elementary School, but as the days wound down the administration and faculty took time to recognize the contributions of many students.

Children, Seniors Meet After Months Of Letter Writing

The students and seniors have been writing to each other twice a month this school year getting to know each other, and talking about everything from hobbies to current events. The pairs recently met face to face in the culmination of a year-long pen pal program called KPS Connections.

Oswego’s Bookmobile Ready To Roll

The mission of the bookmobile is really quite simply. It’s about getting books to kids and empowering them to be great readers, organizers said. It will also prevent regression of students’ reading abilities over the summer, they added.
