The annual Oswego High School awards ceremony recognized numerous deserving, hardworking and dedicated students. Through the generosity of parents, families, businesses and community oriented organizations Oswego High School students benefited greatly with the awarding of numerous scholarships worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.
The students and seniors have been writing to each other twice a month this school year getting to know each other, and talking about everything from hobbies to current events. The pairs recently met face to face in the culmination of a year long pen pal program called KPS Connections.
Oswego High School art students joined together with the Oswego Middle School and OHS Environmental clubs to create environmentally conscious murals.
The entire student body turned out Monday morning to salute the flag. Special guests at the program were John Canale and members of Oswego’s Battle of the Bulge organization.
The Oswego High School Top 100 students were recognized for the twenty-second consecutive year. Several hundred people packed the Oswego High School Dining Hall for the annual “Top 100” dinner. Oswego Rotary, Alliance Bank and the Oswego City School District hosted the event with the Oswego City School District Food Service Department supplying a buffet extravaganza.
Currently, room is still available at the Frederick Leighton Elementary School, Kingsford Park Elementary School and Minetto Elementary school for children wishing to attend universal pre-kindergarten.
Kingsford Park Elementary School students Victoria Crisafulli, Willow-Su Knapp and Caitlin Lilly were joined by teachers Patty Dixon and Chris Castiglia as the students celebrated their awards in the annual Oswego Reading Council Writing Contest.
Several Frederick Leighton Elementary School students were rewarded for their artistic efforts and had a question and answer lunch with the author.
The Oswego Middle School Top 50 was recognized at the seventh annual “Top 50” dinner. Once again the Oswego Sunrise Rotary Club, the Oswego City School District and Pathfinder Bank sponsored the special event to place the OMS students in the spotlight.
Elementary students from the school, along with tutors in the Masters Literacy Program at Oswego State University, worked together on reading and writing activities during the spring semester.
