The Schroon Lake Central School Board of Education Thursday, April 14, hired Oswego Middle School Principal Bonnie Finnerty as the district’s new superintendent.
Oswego Middle School Principal Bonnie Finnerty is one of two finalists in the search for a new superintendent at the Schroon Lake Central School. On Wednesday, she was informed by the president of the Schroon board of education of the decision. Finnerty was named OMS principal in July 2008.
Oswego High School Marching Bucs Drum Major Jacqueline Hondro presented tickets to this year’s 32nd Pageant of Champions to Superintendent of Schools Bill Crist.
There are “some great things that are happening in the school district on a regular basis.” And, Superintendent Bill Crist said they deserve recognition. He cited several examples ranging from academics to the OHS newspaper to sports and music.
One of his possible first tasks could be finding a buyer for the Education Center. The issue is likely to be a major topic at the December board of education meeting.
Bill Crist is expected to be named the district’s new superintendent at next month’s board of education meeting. The 1976 graduate of OHS was offered the position and accepted the offer, according to Dave White, school board president.
