The vote was 4-3 Monday night. “Our goal is always to attempt a zero percent increase. However, with the rising costs of fuel and utilities, that goal simply was not achievable for 2009,” the mayor said. “The good thing is nobody lost their job.”
The 2008-09 spending plan was approved 4-2 (with one absent) Tuesday evening. It takes into account revenue for leasing sections of the Education Center and it contains the 10 positions that were restored in the second budget proposal.
Those who have not yet applied for their property tax rebate still have time.
