Youth, Veterans, Fire Department Work Together To Place Graveside Flags For Veterans
For the fourth year, the Fulton boys’ lacrosse team paired with the Fulton American Legion to place flags on the graves of all buried veterans resting at Mount Adnah and St. Mary’s cemeteries. Put together along with the cooperation and guidance of the Sugar Funeral Home, Inc. and Sugar & Scanlon Funeral Home, the group has grown to incorporate more volunteers. This year, the Fulton Fire Department volunteered its time as several firefighters participated to help honor the heroes that have made the ultimate sacrifice. For the youth, veterans, firemen, all individuals who participated, the consensus was clear: it’s an honor.
Leighton Students Honor Veterans
At a special program the day before Veterans’ Day, Leighton Elementary welcomed several veterans to a patriotic program that involved the entire school. Several of the veterans received special honors from their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who are students at FLS.
Civil War Veterans Honored
On Memorial Day, Monday May 30, the Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War honored the men and women who served in the Army and Navy during the American Civil War 1861-1865.

Oswego Salutes Its Fallen Heroes
Oswego veterans were joined by dozens in Veterans’ Memorial Park Monday to pay tribute to their fallen comrades. A small, poignant ceremony was held earlier at the west end of the Utica Street Bridge to honor Gold Star Mothers.
Oswego County Veterans Named To Senate ‘Hall Of Fame’
Battle of the Bulge group among largest contingent of single campaign veterans to be granted this recognition. It is also the first multi-member group to receive honor. John Canale, the group’s founder, will represent the group at a ceremony to be held in Albany on June 14, Flag Day.
