National Weather Service Issues High Wind Warning Today
The National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, Sunday March 6, in Northern Cayuga, Oswego, Jefferson and Lewis counties.

Wind Advisory In Effect From 1 P.M. Today To 1 A.M. Tuesday, Impactful Snow Squalls Also Expected
The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for the counties of Orleans, Monroe, Wayne, northern Cayuga and Oswego, including the cities of Medina, Rochester, Newark, Fair Haven, and Oswego, from 1 p.m. this afternoon to 1 a.m. Tuesday, and also expects impactful snow squalls from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. this evening.

SUNY Oswego Harnesses Wind Power
A new wind turbine was installed Thursday on the roof of Lee Hall on the SUNY Oswego campus. The turbine, connected to the campus heating plant, will provide about 40,000 killowatt hours of electricity a year.

Falling Trees Just Miss Sandy Creek Church
The First Baptist Church of Sandy Creek was saved from damage when two large evergreen tress fell to the rear of the building missing the church.

Lots Of Wind, But No Snow – Yet
Tuesday’s windstorm dumped more than a half an inch of rain on the area. The month’s snowfall total is stuck at a trace, however. Wind speeds reached into the mid-40s. Warmer weather is expected for the next couple of days.

Councilors Hear About Wind Power Proposal
The city will look into the possibility of having a turbine constructed in Oswego in the future. It would be tied into the water treatment plant to start, the mayor indicated.

Thousands Without Power After Hurricane Ike Remnants Blow Through CNY
The remnants of Hurricane Ike blew through Central New York overnight, knocking out power and bringing down trees and limbs. An estimated 100,000 customers are without power in Central New York this morning.
