OSWEGO, NY – Pack your bags, it’s time to travel the world! The Children’s Museum of Oswego’s annual winter program will take place December 26 through January 4 at 7 W. Bridge St.
This year’s program, “Take a Trip Around the World with CMOO,” gives children and families a unique opportunity to explore two floors of interactive exhibits as well as
daily programming exploring cultures from around the world.
Each day of the program will highlight a different region of the world, to include: Asia, Australia/New Zealand, South America, Europe, North America, Central America, Africa and the Middle East.
From dressup play in traditional costume and storytelling, presentations of cultural dance, music, and food to live animal shows, CMOO’s program gives children an inside look into world cultures without ever leaving Central New York.
The cost of admission will be $5 a person, including all-day play and daily activities.
Discounted multi-day passes are also available.
There’s no need to worry about cabin fever while school is not in session because each day of the program is a new adventure.
Highlights include the science presentations of Tom Altman, animals from around the world with G&G Animals, Israeli dancing, sushi demonstrations, Irish step dancing, cultural crafts, pyramid building challenges and more.
On January 4, a special children’s concert “One World, Many Stories” will be performed by renowned musician Dave Ruch.
Ruch leads the audience on a fun-filled musical journey across the world.
Children become active participants in the program as they sing along (in English, Nigerian, Italian, Japanese, Russian and Iroquois), answer questions, play musical games and act out songs.
Bring your admission ticket from any day of the program to enjoy the concert free of charge.
One goal of this year’s program is to highlight the positive things happening around the world and here in our community.
Over the past year, CMOO has been working on community outreach and development of its vision as a as a one of a kind place for children and families to enrich their lives through interactive play.
With emphasis being placed on enhancing the local economy, CMOO is excited to hold this year’s winter program in the heart of Oswego’s downtown on the corner of West Bridge and First streets.
CMOO has partnered with surrounding businesses to promote a child and family friendly downtown district.
Attendees are encouraged to visit Cidermoon Coffee, river’s end bookstore, Cupcakers, Murdock’s, and Man in the Moon Candies after a day of play at the museum to receive special offers and discounts with their paid admission ticket.
