Thaddeus Iorizzo, 55

OSWEGO, NY – Thaddeus Iorizzo, 55, a resident of Jackim Road in the Town of Oswego, passed away Friday January 3, 2014, at Oswego Hospital.

Thad was born in Syracuse, and moved to Oswego at the age of 4.

He was a graduate of Oswego High School.

He received his bachelor’s degree from the State University at Oswego, and his master’s degree in music from Syracuse University.

He also studied at North Texas State University, and the Berklee School of Music, two of the nation’s most prestigious music programs.

Thad was a gifted musician.

He was an accomplished jazz and classical bassist, performing in many shows while living in San Francisco, California. He had also played with the Binghamton Symphony Orchestra, and in many Central New York area bands. At one time, he had been the director of the New Horizon Band.

He was also a talented artist and cartoonist, whose work was published in various places, including the Oswego palladium times.

Thad was formerly employed, for 12 years, as the Code Enforcement Officer for the city of Oswego.

He was a communicant of the Hall Newman Center in Oswego.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Prisco of Oswego; two sons, Linus Iorizzo of Oswego and Rinaldo Iorizzo of Oswego; his parents, Dr. Luciano and Marilee (Bridges) Iorizzo of Oswego; three brothers, Luciano (Shelley) Iorizzo Jr. of Williamsburg, Va., Thomas (Carrie) Iorizzo of Oswego and Joseph (Kristen) Iorizzo of Baldwin Place, NY; a sister, Dolores (Anthony) Iorizzo Price of London, England; 10 nieces and nephews, Vanessa Iorizzo, Dr. Luciano Iorizzo III, Joshua Iorizzo, Tyler Iorizzo, Monica Iorizzo, Nicole Iorizzo, Joey Iorizzo, Gavin Iorizzo, Brandon Iorizzo and Peter Price; a great-niece, and a great-nephew.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Joseph’s Church, Oswego.

Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home, 112 E. Second St., Oswego.
