As we turn our calendars forward to a new month, SAF (Services to Aid Families), a program of Oswego County Opportunities, Inc., would like to thank members of the Oswego County community for their support in making this year’s Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October such a success.
SAF would like to recognize Oswego Mayor Thomas Gillen and his staff, along with the Oswego Common Council and the Oswego County Legislature and Chairman Fred Beardsley, for their assistance in our campaign to end domestic violence by proclaiming October Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
SAF would also like to acknowledge the Oswego City Fire Department, the Port Authority, and ARISE for helping to create a human purple ribbon, the Pulaski Chamber of Commerce for their assistance in our Shine the Light campaign, and the town and village of Parish for their support in helping us display our Silent Witness Initiative. In addition, SAF would like to recognize the following organizations for helping us collect donations for our SAF Shelter: Believer’s Chapel, First United Methodist Church, Trinity United Methodist Church, Reformed Presbyterian Church, Minetto United Methodist Church, Richard Hughes and the SUNY Oswego Division of Campus Life, Kinney Drugs, Al’s Corner Market in Pulaski, Oswego County Department of Social Services, and the Hannibal Village Market for their direct donation.
Finally, SAF would like to thank the numerous businesses that accepted fliers, ribbons, purple light bulbs and other materials to help us shine the light on domestic violence.
Please consider supporting these businesses as we work together as a community to say NO MORE to domestic violence.
If you or anyone you know is a survivor of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual violence or stalking, please call our Abuse & Assault Hotline at (315) 342-1600.
The hotline is staffed by trained counselors and is available 24 hours.
