OSWEGO, NY – This year’s Children’s Parade is sure to create a positive and exciting environment full of community support.
The parade will begin at 1:30 p.m. at Breitbeck Park, a change from years past, but will be preceded by a variety of fun and family-friendly pre-parade activities.
Starting at 10 a.m., Breitbeck will host the Entergy Nuclear Activity Tent, where children can enjoy free face painting, temporary tattoos, crafts and fun hands-on activities.
The tent will also feature the Twin Magicians and the Oswego Bookmobile, which will allow children to visit with their favorite characters from stories and participate in read-alouds.
Be sure to catch The Show of Love with Joe Trionfero at noon on Friday at Breitbeck Park. A Harborfest tradition, Trionfero uses enthusiasm and audience participation to teach children about the importance of respecting one another.
Immediately after The Show of Love, the Children’s Parade will commence from Breitbeck.
The parade will travel along Lake Street to West Fifth Street and will conclude in the Novelis Family Park at Franklin Square.
Decorate your own T-shirt to wear in the Children’s Parade at one of the several T-shirt workshops held at the Children’s Gala on July 23 and at the Breitbeck Park Pavilion from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday or from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday.
As they enter Novelis Family Park, parade walkers will enter the Oswego Health Post-Parade Activity Area.
Come enjoy the many activities like carnival games, an obstacle course, and a putting green and win prizes.
Activities will run all afternoon after the parade on July 26.
