The Community Task Force Of Fulton Invites The Community To Annual Respect Week Celebration

FULTON, NY – The Community Task Force of Fulton, New York will host its annual Respect Week Celebration during the week of September 20 – 26, 2009. The week’s celebration will begin with Respect Day festivities on Sunday, September 20 at 1 p.m. at the Bullhead Point Pavilion.

This year’s Respect Week theme is “Respect for our Community, Hope for our Future.” The Task Force will emphasize the common expectations of Be Respectful, Be Responsible and Be Safe that are taught in the Fulton City School District.

The event will feature keynote speaker Betty Fadden, Executive Director of the YMCA. Respect Day activities will include music, food, balloons, games and activities for the entire family. The event and all activities and refreshments are free of charge. Activities and games will be hosted by various community agencies and organizations.

“As a task force, our goal is to build a stronger sense of community and focus our efforts on improving life in the greater Fulton area for all residents. Even in challenging times, our community has shown that is has tremendous spirit. The Task Force believes that we can work together to build an even better future. Respect Week is one way that we celebrate the traits that makes Fulton a wonderful place for families to live, work and learn,” said Geri Geitner, a member of the Community Task Force and Respect Day Event Chair.

“Respect Day is a true community celebration,” said Betsy Conners, Executive Director of Instruction and Assessment for the Fulton City School District. “It is wonderful to see families and people of all ages gathering each year to enjoy each other’s company, take part in the games and activities and get to know their neighbors. This is an event that showcases the best of our community. We hope everyone will join us in celebrating Respect Day this year.”

In addition to the Respect Day Celebration, the Fulton Community Task Force invites all interested community members to join them for its monthly meetings. The mission of the Community Task Force of Fulton, New York is to make recommendations to the school district, parents, and community leaders to help children and adult citizens alike to have and enjoy a safe, happy and healthy place in which to live, learn, work and play.
