The Lioness Club of Central Square 28th Annual Apple Festival

CENTRAL SQUARE, NY —- The Lioness Club of Central Square announces the 28th Annual Apple Festival to be held at Goettel Community Park, 755 N. Main St, across the street from Reymore Chevrolet, in Central Square, NY. The Festival is on Saturday and Sunday, September 24th and 25th, from 10 am to 5 pm both days. Parking is free and a one dollar donation is requested at the gate for anyone over 12.

This family oriented community event celebrates the 28th year, and has attracted more than 20,000 people. This year’s festivities include art and craft vendors, commercial and non–profit displays, carnival midway rides for the young and not so young, Square Valley Trailblazers Snowmobile Club display, C.N.Y. 2 cylinder club display, Railroad Safety Demonstration, Oswego County Search and Rescue K-9 demonstrations, dance demonstrations by Dance Craze, Martial Arts Demos by North East Academy of Martial Arts, Karate John’s Martial Arts Center, and LaVallee’s USA Black Belt Champions, plus an appearance by the Central Square Redhawk Regiment Marching Band on Saturday. You will also find children’s games, pumpkin painting, State Police Rollover safety demonstrations, Oswego County Sheriff’s Dept ChildSafe ID and fingerprinting, local fire and rescue displays, motorcycle safety, fantasy face painting, an obstacle course for kids, sand art, Sassy Seniors Medicaid Assistance, and much more. A new and exciting midway will be provided by Midway Rides of Utica, featuring a wide array of rides, games and food items.

Live entertainment is sponsored by Reymore Chevrolet, and features TimeLine on Saturday from 12:30 to 4:30, and The Boxed Set from noon to 5:00 on Sunday.

The Lioness Club of Central Square’s Apple Festival is well known for delicious food available at different stands, many of which are for the benefit of local non-profit organization. There are some new and interesting food choices this year including single servings of apple crisp by CSCNY Hockey team, along with the mouth watering take home apple crisp from the West Monroe Methodist Church. Additionally, we will have the Central Square Lions’ freshly made apple fritters, and the Sons of the American Legion Post 915’s famous chicken BBQ and salt potatoes. The Brewerton United Methodist Church will sell their awesome apple pies, and the Phoenix Lions will provide Hot Beef Sundaes and baked potatoes with a toppings bar. Theresa’s Down Home Catering will return with pulled pork, turkey drumsticks & BBQ beans. The Central Square Red Storm Softball will man the main food booth this year, serving a variety of items including sausage sandwiches, chicken tenders, onion rings, chili fries and a taco in a bag, along with the traditional burgers, hot dogs and fries. A new booth this year will feature fresh seafood from Jules of the Sea, and Athens Grill will return with their selection of gyros, shiskebobs and Philly cheese steak. As always, fried dough, cotton candy, candy apples, and other mouthwatering treats will be available in the midway ride area, and a wide array of apple products will be available to take home from the new Appledale Orchards stand.

The event sponsor is the Lioness Club of Central Square, a service organization staffed by local volunteers. The Lioness have many local charitable activities that benefit a wide array of people and organizations, including the sight and hearing impaired, local food pantries, libraries, and the emergency community serving the North Shore of Oneida Lake and Southern Oswego and Northern Onondaga Counties. All of the money earned by the Lioness from this event is donated back into our local communities, and non-profit participants utilize their profits to enhance their own organizational missions.
