The Oneida Sails Into Brewerton Elementary

BREWERTON, NY – The painting of the U.S. Brig Oneida began its tour recently at Brewerton Elementary School.

Created by award-winning local artist Tim Ames, in collaboration with naval historians Dr. Gary Gibson and Col. Clayton Nans, the artwork commemorates an interesting fact about Oswego’s role in the War of 1812.

Built in Oswego between 1808 and 1809, the Oneida was involved in more actions throughout the campaign than any other warship.
