In August the Oswego Childrenâ€™s Theaterâ€™s will bring a classic tale to life with a cast of area youth who have become theater Veterans over the last several years. Many of the cast members have appeared in dozens of Oswego Childrenâ€™s Theater productions.
Four actresses in the current production â€œDisneyâ€™s 101 Dalmatians Kidsâ€ were seen in the very OCT production 2002â€™s â€œWizard of OZâ€. These include Amanda Mosher, appearing as Cruella DeVille, Jane Coty appearing as Anita, Haley Thompson, appearing as Nannie and Erin Chetney, appearing as Horace.
“Disneyâ€™s 101 Dalmations Kids”.is a musical version of the 1956 childrenâ€™s novel â€œ101 Dalmationsâ€ written by Dodie Smith. The story was also the basis for two Disney Movies including a 1961 animated version and 1996 live action film starring Glen Close. The story was adapted for the stage by Marcy Heisler , with music by Brian Smith, Dan Root, Martin Lee Fuller, Mel Leven, Randy Rogel, and Richard Gibbs; Lyrics by Marcy Heisler, Brian Smith, Dan Root, Martin Lee Fuller, Mel Leven, Randy Rogel, and Richard Gibbs; and the music for the show was adapted and arranged by Bryan Louiselle. The show is presented by special arrangement with Music Theatre International.
The Oswego Childrenâ€™s Theaterâ€™s version of the show features a cast of about 50 area youth ranging in age from 3 to 17. The show is directed by Lyndsie Lee Jones, assisted by Music Director Kenneth C. Jones, Wayne Mosher Jr., Assistant Director, and Kelly Mosher and Flo Ross on Costume design. Bobby Larkin is the technical director.
“Disneyâ€™s 101 Dalmatians Kids” is slated to be performed August 20 and 21 at 7:30 p.m. with a matinee performance on August 21, and 22 at 2 p.m. at Hopkins Hall, in St. Maryâ€™s Church, located at the corner of West Sixth and Cayuga Streets, in Oswego.
