The Oswego Childrenâ€™s Theater will present the musical â€œ Disneyâ€™s 101 Dalmations, Kidsâ€ this August. as the third production of the 2010 season.
The show is based on the 1956 childrenâ€™s novel of the same name written by Dodie Smith. The story was adapted for the stage by Marcy Heisler , with music by Brian Smith, Dan Root, Martin Lee Fuller, Mel Leven, Randy Rogel, and Richard Gibbs; Lyrics by Marcy Heisler, Brian Smith, Dan Root, Martin Lee Fuller, Mel Leven, Randy Rogel, and Richard Gibbs; and the music for the show was adapted and arranged by Bryan Louiselle.
The story begins in the loving home of a pair of Dalmation dogs, Pongo and Perdita,who have just produced a litter of fifteen puppies. Then the montrous Cruella DeVille plots to steal the puppies to make a spotted, dog skin coat. The adventure contines as the pair, their human â€œPetsâ€ Roger and Anita, and all the dogs of London join in the search and rescue of the kidnapped puppies. Allâ€™s well that ends well as the puppies are found and Cruella and her bumbling henchmen, get their just desserts.
The Oswego Childrenâ€™s Theaterâ€™s production of the show features a large cast of local youth and adults including Mary Buske and Austin Swindon, as Pongo and Perdita, Seamus Darrow and Jane Coty as Roger and Anita, and Amanda Mosher as Cruella DeVille. Other featured players include Shaugnessy Darrow and Erin Chetney as the two evil Henchmen, Horace and Jasper, and Hailey Thompson, as Nannie.
The fifteen Dalmation puppies are played by Lauren Briglin, Zach Demott, Emily and Emma Humm, Emma and Eric Hyde, Russell, Elkins, Mia Fierro, Riley King, Gabby Manchester, Oleta Pospesel, Ethan Rando, Bailey Robinson, Gianna Schiacca, and Sophie Shurter.
Other dogs and animals include, Coral Brown, Ireland Buxton, Grayson Cary, Mackenzie Chappell, Anna Elkins, Kaylynn and Jessie Faulkner, Katie Fierro, Leah Horn, Ethan Humm, Jessica Johnston, Cassidee Larkin, Juliette Manchester, Alyssa Morley, Alainna Mulvihill,Terilynn Pospesel, and Salvatore and Sarina Sciacca.
The Narrators include Isabelle Elkins, Caroline Gray, Sophia Horn, Mackenzie Rice and Caitlin Spurling,.
Adult cast members include Rick Sciacca and Larry Rose.
The show is directed by Lyndsie Lee Jones assisted by Music Director Kenneth C. Jones, Wayne Mosher Jr., Assistant Director, and Kelly Mosher and Flo Ross on Costume design.
The production is slated to be performed August 13, 14, 20 and 21 at 7:30 p.m. with matinee performances on August 15, 21, and 22 at 2 p.m. at Hopkins Hall, in St. Maryâ€™s Church, located at the corner of West Sixth and Cayuga Streets, in Oswego.
