The Oswego Players Production of “An Act of God” Showcases David Javerbaums Satirical Comedy

The Oswego Player’s Second production of their 80th anniversary season, “An Act of God”, will feature the satirical comedy of award winning writer David Javerbaum.
David Javerbaum was hired as a staff writer with The Daily Show with Jon Stewart in 1999. His work for the program won 11 Emmy Awards, a Grammy Award, three Pebody Awards andTelevision Critics Awards for both Best Comedy and Best News Show. He was also one of the three principal authors of the show’s textbook parody America (The Book): A Citizens Guide to Democracy Inaction which sold 2.6 million copies and won the 2005 Thurber Prize for American Humor. He also runs a popular Twitter Account @TheTweetOfGod which served as a basis for the Oswego Players current production, “An Act of God”.
The play opened in May of 2015 for a limited run through August 2 with. Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory) as God .The show returned to Broadway in June of 2016 for another limited engagement starring Sean Hayes (Will and Grace) for a ninety day run.
In the plot, the supreme being has decided that the message of the original Ten Commandments has become distorted and outdated. So, he has decided to return to earth in the form of an actor. to roll out a new “improved version”, aided by the the Archangels Micheal and Gabriel
The Oswego Players production of the play features a fine trio of actors including Matt Fleming as God, with Patrick Carmen and Tammy Wilkinson as the Archangels Micheal and Gabriel.
Oswego Players Board President Paul Mckinney will direct this production assisted by Alex Taylor as Stage Manager Production staff also includes Show Designers Tom and Morgan Fazzio. Tammy Wilkinson is the show’s Producer.
The show is slated to be performed at the Francis Marion Brown Theater in Oswego on April 28 and May 4 and 5 at 8 p.m. and April 29 and May 6 at 2 p.m. Ticket prices include: Student and Seniors $9.
