OSWEGO – This summer the Harborfest Children’s Musical “The Wizard of Oz” will bring a classic tale to life with a cast of area youth, many of whom have become theater veterans over the last several years.
Quite a few of the cast appeared in last year’s Harborfest Children’s Musical “Disney’s 101 Damations” including:
Emma Deloff, Sydney Osborn, Sean Metcalf, Sage Osborn, Trevor Griffiths, Haily Barbeau, Aislinn Osborn, Josie Metcalf, Arianna Lee Jones, Nolan Verberg, Lee-Anne Hosein, Ella Woolworth, Cameron D’Angelo, Amelia Wentworth, Ellie Laird, Max Clarke, Althea Sawyer, Leo Jones, Ethan Mosher, Lena Williams, Nina King, Elliot Jones, Austynn Milone-Grinnell, Lana Hsu, Althea Sawyer, Alexa Bell and Layne Osborn.
In addition, other cast members have been featured in past productions of other area theater companies including: APW, Fulton, Hannibal, Mexico and Oswego schools, CNY Arts, CNY Playhouse, Syracuse Children’s Theater and Oswego Players.
These include Sheila Wallis, Hannah Kandt, Gianna Ellingwood, Louisa Huff, and Caralyn Benedetto.
The latest cast features several new faces including Nya Buckalew, Adrianna Geroux, Leah Kelly, Lylah Lukowski, Austynn Milone-Grinnell, Keira Pennington, Emma Pryor, Kayla Brooker, Olivia Emmons, Eva Kandt, Azalea McCarthy, Kristen McClure, Rowinn Pennington, Kendall Raponi, Sam Emmons, Mason Fedele, Damien Germain, Preston Kearns, Lucas Kelly, Oliver Lukowski, Greg Thomas, Dickie Germain, Owen Tice, Jacey Brannock, Jana Lorenz, Ember McCarthy, Dale Osborn, Amelia Sawyer, Elsie Verberg, and Peyton Engel.
This year’s show will be produced by Oswego Children’s Theater with award-winning directors Lyndsie Lee and Kenneth C. Jones assuming the stage and music leadership roles.
The show is based on the book by Central New York native L. Frank Baum with music and lyrics by Harold Arlen and E. Y. Harburg, background music by Herbert Stothart and dance and vocal arrangements by Peter Howard.
This Young Performer’s Version of the show is based upon the Royal Shakespeare Company production adapted for stage by John Kane with orchestration by Larry Wilcox taken from the classic 1939 motion picture owned by Turner Entertainment Company and distributed in all media by Warner Bros.
Adaptation and support materials for the Young Performers Edition of the show was developed by iTheatrics under the supervision of Timothy Allen McDonald.
The show is produced by special arrangement with Music Theater International.
The Wizard of Oz will presented several times during the festival weekend on the Children’s Stage at West Park.
