OSWEGO – “So funny and so powerful; so dear and sweet; so remindful of our female wiles, our worries, our insecurities, our remembrances of mother, father, sisters, brothers, lovers. I think it can’t miss.” – WowOwow.com.
Lighthearted and witty, Love, Loss and What I Wore is perfect for a girls’ night out or date night.
Some have called it a chick flick for the stage, and it’s a fair assessment.
It has all of the qualities of a great chick flick: relatable characters, quotable comedy and the right amount of sentimental moments mixed in.
Theatre Du Jour is proud to present this play of monologues and ensemble pieces about women, clothes and memory covering all the important subjects – mothers, prom dresses, mothers, buying bras, mothers, hating purses and why we only wear black.
Based on the bestselling book by Ilene Beckerman and directed by Moe Harrington.
Presented as an interactive reading – there’s a huge focus on the story, and the actor bringing the story to life.
Actors will be doing their homework independently and then working with Moe one-on-one to bring these stories to life.
You’ll surely recognize this all-star local cast including Anne Fitzgerald, Sistina Giordano, Mae Harrington, Moe Harrington, Stephanie Johnson, Lilli Komurek, Karin Jean Leary, Lorna Oppedisano, Laura Serway, Katie Toomey, Kerrie Ann Webb and Tammy Lynn Wilkinson.
“It has always been in the back of my mind that I would craft a cast of community ‘celebrities.’ I longed to involve fellow business owners or rockstar community volunteers – folks who shine in their community but may not have considered ‘walking the boards’ so to speak! It really elevates the project for so many reasons. We raise awareness for theater in general. We are able to honor our mission for mentoring – creating an environment where all involved are learning and growing and we just might end up with a few more amazing humans that catch the bug for performing,” said TDJ founder and show producer Wilkinson.
This is more than a show, friends – it is a celebration of women and all who love them.
Grab your tribe and join the celebration.
Love, Loss and What I Wore by Nora Ephron opens on June 14 at The Eis House in Mexico and continues with stops at The Barnes Hiscock Mansion in Syracuse (June 19) and GS Steamers in Oswego (June 27).
