Thomas G. Cantine, Jr., 66, of Fulton, died Monday, October 18, 2010 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse after a sudden illness.
A native of Fulton, he had resided in the Mt. Pleasant area of Volney most of his life. Tom had worked as a sales engineer at Electro-Flyte Division of Black Clawson in Fulton for 23 years and traveled extensively throughout the world in that position. He continued his career as an engineering consultant for various local companies. Tom was a member of the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Volney. He was a member of the Professional Ski Instructors of America, Level 3, teaching at Snow Ridge and Toggenburg ski areas; an amateur radio operator with call sign W2TQF, a charter member of the Fulton Amateur Radio Club and served as president for several terms; served as house chairman of the Rap-Shaw Hunting & Fishing Club in the Adirondacks; served as president of the Music Hall in Oswego and was also a past member of the MG Car Club of CNY and the Fulton Historical Society.
Tom was predeceased by his father, Thomas G. Cantine, Sr., who died in 1996. He is survived by his wife, Pamela M. Cantine of Fulton; twin daughters, Joslyn and Gracyn; his mother, Ella Cantine of Fulton; sister, Christine (Charles) Lighthipe of Manlius; niece, Amanda (Matthew) Timmerman; nephew, Joshua (Emily) Lighthipe; grand-nephew, Jack Lighthipe; aunt, Margaret Owens; cousins, Charles (Claudia) Owens; David (Shirley) Owens and special cousin, Carol (Grant) Owens who donated one of her kidneys to Tom in 2000. Being a recipient of the gift of life, Tom was able to be a donor after his death. Please consider joining Tom in passing the gift of life to others.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 30, 2010 at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, 2819 County Route 45, Fulton with burial at Mt. Adnah Cemetery in Fulton. Calling hours are 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 29, 2010 at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay Street, Fulton.
