FULTON, NY – Thomas J. El-Hage, 80, of Baldwinsville, passed away Tuesday March 20, 2012, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse.
A native of Palermo, where he had resided most of his life, Tom moved to Baldwinsville in 2003.
He had worked as a sales manager for Combined Life Insurance Company of New York, Mexico Academy Central School as the Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds for 32 years, NYS Conservation Department/ D.E.C. and was a self-employed landscaper/ general contractor.
Tom was a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Baldwinsville and a former communicant of the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Fulton.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Baldwinsville Council (4th degree); Fulton Art Association, Rockport, MA Art Association, Liverpool Art Guild and the Oswego Art Guild.
Tom was a co-founder and past president of the Oswego County Federal Credit Union and a member and past president of C.S.E.A. Local #838, Oswego.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Rosemary Dawley El-Hage, who died in 1996; a son, Eric and grandson, Justin El-Hage, who both died in 1995; and by a step-son, Skip Gates, who died in 2008.
Surviving are his wife, Phyllis Gates El-Hage of Baldwinsville; his children Craig El-Hage of Palermo and Shawna El-Hage of Lake Worth, Fla.; step-children, Ralph Gates of Baldwinsville and Cheryl Rinier of East Syracuse; two grandchildren, Eric Justin and Cassidy El-Hage; a sister, Naivie Moses of Baldwinsville; several step-grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Trinity Church, corner of Rochester and South Third streets, Fulton.
Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fulton.
Calling hours will be 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay St., Fulton.
