Three Charged With Welfare Fraud

OSWEGO, NY – The Oswego County Sheriff’s Office made three more arrests recently for alleged welfare fraud.

On Wednesday at 2:30 p.m., Jessica L. Myers, 25 and Edward L. Schroeder, 28 both of 5350 State Route 104, Bldg. Lot 19, Oswego, were arrested for first-degree offering a false instrument for filing, a class E felony; third-degree welfare Fraud, a class D felony; and third-degree grand larceny, a class D felony.

The arrests were made following the investigation into an incident in which they allegedly obtained food stamp and Medicaid benefits from the Department of Social Services with a value of more than $4,000 due to not reporting incomes received.

Myers and Schroeder were arraigned in the Town of Scriba Court.

They were ROR’d and are to appear in Town of Mexico Court on April 10.

On Thursday, at noon, Trisha M. Nash, 27, of 235 Stock Road, Hannibal, was arrested for first-degree offering a false instrument for filing, a class E felony; third-degree welfare fraud, a class D felony; and third-degree grand larceny, a class D felony.

The arrest stems from the investigation into an incident in which she allegedly obtained food stamps and Medicaid benefits from the Department of Social Services with a value of more than $5,000 due to not reporting incomes received.

Nash was arraigned in the Town of Volney Court and remanded to the OCJ in lieu of $500 cash/bond.

She is to appear in Town of Mexico Court on April 3.
