Three-Vehicle Crash in Hannibal Claims Life

HANNIBAL – On Tuesday (Nov. 10), at approximately 10:47 p.m., members of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office responded to a three-car fatal motor vehicle accident on State Route 3, at the intersection of County Route 7, in the town of Hannibal.

A 2005 Buick Le Sabre, operated by 71-year-old Harry J. VanBuren of 77 Tallman St., Oswego was northbound on County Route 7 and failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection of State Route 3, according to deputies.

Mr. VanBuren’s vehicle was then struck by an eastbound 2014 Ford F-150 pickup truck.

After the  initial collision of the two ehicles, both vehicles were then struck by a westbound 2009  Patriot Fuels tanker tractor trailer operated by 31-year-old Andrew D. Huston of 9442 State Route 34, Weedsport.

Mr. VanBuren was transported by Menter Ambulance to University hospital in Syracuse with serious injuries.

Mr. Huston was treated at the scene for minor injuries and released.

The operator of the 2014 Ford F-150 was pronounced deceased at the scene.

His name is not being released at this time.

Assisting at the scene were fire crews from Hannibal, Granby Center, Oswego Town, Ira, and Fair Haven.

Also assisting at the scene were members of the New York State Police, New York  State Department of Environmental Conservation, Oswego County Fire, OP-Tech, and the New York Department of Transportation.

No tickets have been issued at this time and this crash remains under investigation.
