PHOENIX – Today’s (Aug. 2) meeting was a smaller than usual group. Twelve members weighed in, five of them KOPS who are all under goal. Joyce was the Best Loser of the Day. Best Loser for the month of July is Mary.
We were happy to see Jackie today. With her work schedule it isn’t always possible for her to weigh in.
Another pleasant surprise was having our Area Captain, Sharon, attend our meeting. It’s always nice to have her drop in.
Kay won the KOPS pot, and she won the Stay and Lose Contest. Weigh to go girl! Mary Ann is the next contestant for the S&L. The KOPS POW for the month of August is Anneliese, and the TOPS POW for the week is Vicky.
The Positive for the week is “Never get too hungry.”
You make poor decisions when your judgment is compromised. Planning meals and snacks works wonders to head off the intense hunger that can do a number on your best intentions to eat right.

Set aside some time on your days off to shop and prepare foods that are nutritious and portable that can get you through the week or even a few days at a time. Invest in convenient containers so that you can carry nutritious meals as well as snacks to work or school.
You’ll be less likely to give in to temptation or be stuck in a situation where the only options are bad options.”
One of our members, Hope, told us today that she received some of those small containers as a gift from another member and she’s been making use of them to plan her snacks for the week. It works! She said it keeps her from overeating when she gets the “munchies.”
Joyce won the 50/50 and we ended the meeting with our monthly Snatch Bingo game. That’s always a sure way to end the meeting with lots of laughter.
Food for thought: If you want a lesson in patience, planning, and opportunism, study a cat hunting a bird.
