FULTON, NY – On Tuesday November 17, at approximately 10:25 p.m., investigators with the Oswego County Drug Task Force executed a drug related search warrant on a 1996 Audi as it was being operated in the area of South Fourth and Pratt streets in the city of Fulton.
As a result of the search warrant approximately 58 grams of cocaine was seized, police said.
The two occupants of the vehicle, Vell K. Smithers, 41, of 101 State Route 104 Room 222 Oswego, and Tiara J. Hobart, 22, of 516 Ontario St., Fulton, were arrested and criminally charged with one count each of the following:
Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd degree, intent to sell – Class B Felony
Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd degree – Class B Felony
Investigators believe the cocaine was possessed with the intent to be sold in the city of Oswego.
The defendants were arraigned in Fulton City Court.
Smithers was remanded to the Oswego County Correctional Facility without bail.
Hobart was remanded to the Oswego County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bail bond.
They are due to reappear in Fulton City Court on Thursday (November 19), at 9 a.m.
The Oswego County Drug Task Force is comprised of members from the Oswego County District Attorney’s Office, Oswego County Sheriff’s Department, NYS University Police at Oswego, U.S. Border Patrol, Fulton City Police Department and Oswego City Police Department.
