Phoenix, NY – The New York State Police in Fulton apprehended a wanted fugitive from Onondaga County following a vehicle pursuit late tonight (April 27).
Troopers attempted to stop a Pontiac Grand Am on County Route 12 in the town of Schroeppel at approximately 10 p.m. for a suspended registration.
The vehicle’s operator, Christopher W. Vanetten, 37, of 1252 Chestnut Ridge Road, Kirkville, NY, allegedly failed to stop and lead troopers on a vehicle pursuit that entered the village of Phoenix.
Vanetten bailed from the vehicle on Barnes Street, leading troopers on a short foot pursuit and was apprehended.
He was charged with Unlawfully Fleeing a Police Officer 3rd Degree and numerous Vehicle & Traffic Law violations.
Vanetten is wanted on several warrants in Onondaga County involving Grand Larceny and Fraud charges.
He was remanded to the Oswego County Jail on no bail.
Also arrested during this incident was the vehicle passenger, Christina A Pontello, 39, 7135 Lake Shore Road, Cicero.
After Vanetten abandoned the vehicle on Barnes Street, Ms. Pontello drove away in the vehicle, troopers said.
She was later apprehended in Baldwinsville and charged with Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd Degree.
She was released on an appearance ticket to return to the Village of Phoenix Court.
