FULTON, NY – A modest crowd showed up to the downtown Fulton gazebo despite the scattered rain and blistery cold wind on Wednesday (June 8) for one of five Tunes in June musical events.
Tunes in June is made possible for the public to enjoy thanks to the Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce, the Fulton Community Development Agency, the City of Fulton and event sponsor, Pathfinder Bank.
Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce Greg Mills also thanked Joe Cortini for organizing the entertainment, Jan Rebeor for help organizing the event and Oswego Health for providing a special day at one of the Tunes in June events.
While the event is supposed to run from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. every Wednesday at the downtown gazebo on South First Street, the most recent performance concluded with a shortened program due to unsuitable weather conditions.
The second Tunes in June performance (June 8) came from Navy Band Northeast; Brass Quintet and Top Brass who performed for the first hour. Crosswinds Wood Trio was unable to perform the following hour due to wind and weather constraints, ending the event early as guests returned to the warmth of their office or home.
Kathy’s Cakes was available during this week’s event providing lunch options to all guests. Fortunately, if anyone was unable to get lunch during the first hour of the performance, Kathy’s Cakes is located on Cayuga Street just one block away from the downtown gazebo to stop for a warm lunch.
The theme for this week was gardening as chosen by event sponsor, Pathfinder Bank.
Each week, as a different local restaurant will provide lunch and a different musical group will provide live entertainment, a new theme will be selected by Pathfinder Bank with coordinating giveaways.
The first Tunes in June event of the year featured Mimi’s Restaurant providing food, Double V providing entertainment and followed the theme, Support Local.
Each Wednesday for the duration of the month (June 15, 22, 29) the same protocol will follow with the opportunity to enjoy food, music, fun and free giveaways at the downtown gazebo.
