Two-Car Accident Injures Pedestrian And Child

OSWEGO, NY – A mother and her two-year-old child who were walking on a sidewalk were injured as a result of a two-car accident, according to police.

At about 9:09 a.m. today (Nov. 29), Oswego City Police responded to a report of a two-car motor vehicle accident at the intersection of West Fifth and West Albany streets.

Investigation at the scene has determined that a 2000 Chrysler Concord, driven by 18-year-old Aaron Callahan of 3 Cedarwood Drive, Oswego, was traveling eastbound on West Albany Street and allegedly failed to yield the right of way to a 2008 Kia, which was traveling northbound on West Fifth Street.

The Kia was operated by 26-year-old Jenna Kain, also of Oswego, whose two infant children were also present in the rear seat of the vehicle.

As a result of the impact between the two vehicles, Callahan’s vehicle was pushed up onto the sidewalk and struck 25-year-old Jennifer L. Gates of Oswego.

Gates was pushing a stroller, in which her two-year-old son was riding.

The stroller was struck by the vehicle as well.

Gates and her child suffered injuries as a result of the accident, which are believed to be non-life threatening.

Both were transported to Syracuse University Hospital, by Oswego City Fire Department ambulance, for evaluation and treatment.

At the time of this press release information regarding their status was unavailable from the hospital.

None of the occupants in either vehicle were injured as a result of the accident.
