Two-Car Accident Under Investigation In Hannibal

HANNIBAL – At about 11:47 a.m. today (May 25) members of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office, Hannibal Fire Department, Oswego Town Fire Department and Menter Ambulance responded to State Route 104 in the town of Hannibal, south of Blythe Road, for a two-car collision.

Further investigation revealed, a 2001 Mazda operated by 27-year-old Anthony J. Vera was travelling in a southerly direction on State Route 104.

The Mazda crossed into the northbound lane and side swiped a 1979 International Harvester dump truck operated by 56-year-old Michael A. Phillips, according to police.

Vera was extricated and airlifted to University Hospital, his condition is unknown at the time of this release.

Phillips was transported by Menter Ambulance to Oswego Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Failure to keep right appears to be contributing factor to the accident.

The collision is still under investigation.
