Two-Vehicle Crash Claims Life In Scriba


SCRIBA – At about 3:05 p.m. today (Feb. 17), members of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle motor vehicle accident that occurred on County Route 53 in the town of Scriba that ended with one fatality.

The investigation indicates the operator and sole occupant of a 2009 Chevrolet pickup, 28-year-old Andrew Johnson of Oswego, was traveling south on County Route 53 when he collided with a 1997 Ford sedan being operated in a westerly direction on Dutch Ridge Road.

The operator of the 1997 Ford sedan was transported from the accident scene to University Hospital, Syracuse, by Menters Ambulance, where he was later pronounced dead.

Identification of the deceased is pending family notifications.

Mr. Johnson suffered no injuries as a result of the accident, deputies said.

Members of NY State police and Scriba Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
