Underage Alcohol Sales Sting Nets One

A Fulton man was the only person nabbed as police tested 15 city stores and bars, along with their customers, to see if they would sell alcohol to or buy alcohol for someone under 21 years old.

Police charged Richard Guppy, III, 32, of 308 W. Broadway with a misdemeanor count of unlawfully dealing with a child.

Fulton Police praised the 15 stores for successfully avoiding selling alcohol to the teenager used to set up the stings.  The businesses are:

  • Price Chopper
  • Wilson Farms
  • Fastrac
  • Nice-n-Easy
  • Lakeview Lanes
  • Upper Landing
  • Frans Riverfront Muskie’s
  • Red Brick Pub
  • Rite Aid (St Rt 481)
  • Bob’s Liquors
  • Byrne Dairy
  • Gorman’s
  • Cayuga St. Market
  • Crazy Gator

The effort was paid for by a grant from the state to the county Council on Alcoholism and Addictions.

  1. I agree with Mike’s comment! And I am also confused that these “stings” are supposedly random!! Why has Gorman’s Tavern been in the “sting” the past four times? They have beat every single “sting” so far, but they are always triggered at every sting. Doesn’t make sense to me. The bartenders are well trained for under aged drinkers, as most places should be and yes, mistakes happen. But to be targeted everytime seems ridiculous!!
