Submitted by the Fulton Police Department
On Friday September 24, 2010, the City of Fulton Police Department, in conjunction with the County of Oswego Council on Alcoholism and Addiction (COCOAA), conducted an enforcement detail which was funded through a New York State grant received by COCOAA.
The purpose of the detail was to attempt to purchase alcohol through the use of an underage agent at various liquor sales locations throughout the city. Attempts were made to purchase alcohol at seven on and off premise locations within the city.
During the detail, an employee of the Dead End Tavern is alleged to have sold an alcoholic beverage to an underage person. Patti A. Arnold, 54, of Co Rt 8 in Fulton was charged with one count of Unlawfully Dealing with a Child in the First Degree, a class A misdemeanor.
The second part of the detail consisted of the undercover agent approaching persons outside of stores and asking that person to purchase alcohol for the agent. Adam L. Abrams, 22, of Maroney Rd Sterling, is alleged to have provided alcoholic beverages to a person less than 21 years of age. He is also charged with one count of Unlawfully Dealing with a Child First Degree. Both Arnold and Abrams were released on appearance tickets, returnable on 10/14/10 at 9:00AM to Fulton City Court.
The City of Fulton Police Department would like to recognize the following city businesses and their employees for denying the sale of alcohol to the undercover agent and complying with the NYS ABC Law. They are as follows:
Nice-n-Easy Grocery Shoppe
Fran’s Riverfront Tavern
Crazy Gator bar
Upper Landings Bar
The City of Fulton Police Department continues to combat the problem of underage alcohol possession and consumption. Those with information on possible underage alcohol possession are urged to call 598-4504 or the confidential TIPS line at 593-TIPS.
