FULTON, NY – One of the area’s most anticipated and largest golf tournaments, the United Way of Greater Oswego County’s Annual Golf Classic will be held July 15 at the Greenview Country Club in West Monroe.
Now in its 16th year, the United Way Golf Classic provides community members with an opportunity to enjoy a fun day of golf while supporting their local United Way. Last year’s event hosted a field of 52 teams and according to United Way Resource Development Director, Lois Luber, early entries indicate that this year’s Golf Classic may even be more popular.
“We have had an excellent response to this year’s tournament. I am happy to say that we have already received several team registrations and have welcomed a number of area businesses and organizations as sponsors. I encourage those interested to register their team early to ensure a spot in this year’s tournament,” said Luber.
According to planning committee chair Dave Lloyd of Novelis, the committee has been working to make this year’s United Way Annual Golf Classic even better than last year.
“The dedicated members of this years golf committee have reviewed the feedback from the participants and sponsors from last year’s classic and are assembling a wide range of activities, from the traditional favorites to a few new ideas to ensure everyone from the scratch golfer to the golfer who scratches their head has a great time. The United Way Golf classic is an excellent opportunity for people to gather and support the United Way while enjoying a round of golf,” he said.
Registration includes a continental breakfast, a classic golf shirt, golf cart, 18 holes of golf, lunch, beverages on the course, and a steak dinner buffet following the tournament.
There will also be plenty of giveaways and prizes, with each golfer being eligible for, longest drive and closest to the pin prizes.
Additionally, the Capture Action Video, which captures each player’s swing and allows him or her to compare it to his or her choice of professional golfer, will also be included in the registration.
Interested golfers will also have the opportunity to sign up for the skins contest.
Entry fees for the 2011 United Way Golf Classic are $125 per person or $500 per team.
