The backpack program was initiated to provide food to students and their families who have been identified as at risk of hunger over the weekend and breaks, when school breakfasts and lunches are not available to them.

Nutritious, easy to prepare meals and snacks are sent home in anonymous backpacks so as not to cause any embarrassment to the student in need.
