OSWEGO, NY – Member agencies and supporters of the United Way of Greater Oswego County enjoyed a delicious meal of soup, salad and breads at the United WayÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s Ã¢â‚¬Å“Stone SoupÃ¢â‚¬Â Holiday Luncheon.
Held Dec. 10 in the Parish Center of St. JosephÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s Church in Oswego, the United WayÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s Ã¢â‚¬Å“Stone SoupÃ¢â‚¬Â Holiday Luncheon provided member agencies and their employees with an opportunity to get together and share some holiday cheer with the staff and board members of the United Way as well as community members who proudly support the efforts of the United Way.
Ã¢â‚¬Å“Our Ã¢â‚¬ËœStone SoupÃ¢â‚¬â„¢ Holiday Luncheon was a great success with more than 125 people in attendance we raised more than $1000 and collected dozens of boxes of food for our local food pantries. I want to thank the community members who attended, and our many caring sponsors who donated the food for our luncheon: Aunt MaryÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s Catering, CanaleÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s Restaurant, VonaÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s Restaurant, CÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s Farms and Davis Brothers, Bosco & Geers, Cakes Galore, SUNY Oswego Auxiliary Services, and Tim HortonÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s. I would also like to thank the Oswego Lions Club and Boilermakers Union, Local #5 for their monetary donations, the beautiful voices of the Concinnity Singers, Deanna Hubbard, Bobbie Palange, and Mary Lou Bjorkman, and of course our hard working volunteers and committee members, who under the direction of chairperson, Jim Mahoney, helped to make our Ã¢â‚¬ËœStone SoupÃ¢â‚¬â„¢ Holiday Luncheon a success,Ã¢â‚¬Â said Lois Luber, resource development director for the United Way of Greater Oswego County.
All proceeds from the event, including the table decorations, consisting of Dements spaghetti sauce and pasta, provided by Giovanni Foods and PaulÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s Big M, will be donated to food pantries throughout Oswego County.
