FULTON, NY ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã¢â‚¬Å“ The United Way of Greater Oswego County and its member agencies were treated recently to an informative presentation on how they can reduce their energy costs for the upcoming heating season.
Hosted by the United Way and presentation focused on National GridÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢s added and expanded efficiency programs designed to help reduce the effect of increased natural gas market prices.
Representatives from National Grid provided detailed information on how these programs which range from rebates for investment in efficient appliances to self-service online audit tools can benefit both residential and commercial customers.
They also outlined a number of cost savings steps and do-it-yourself tips that assist customers in keeping their heat bill manageable.
ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã…â€œThose that attended found the Energy Forum to be very helpful,ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã‚Â said Executive Director of the United Way of Greater Oswego County Melanie Trexler.Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã…â€œWe received some great information that our agencies will be able to pass along to their consumers that will hopefully make this heating season a little more affordable.ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã‚Â
According to National Grid Account Executive Tim Murphy, the company will hold similar meetings throughout its service territory.
ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã…â€œIn an effort to share information with community agencies that work with customers who may experience difficulties with anticipated high energy costs for the upcoming winter National Grid will be hosting several Outreach Meetings across Central New York. The meetings will focus on National GridÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢s programs and services as well as energy efficiency programs.Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â A representative from the NYSERDA EmPowerNY Program will also be on hand to explain their programs,ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã‚Â he said.
