University Police Charge Florida Man With DWI, Marijuana Possession

OSWEGO, NY – SUNY Oswego University Police charged a 26-year-old Florida man early Sunday with a felony count of marijuana possession as well as a misdemeanor count of driving while intoxicated and several infractions.

Officers said Ryan R. Russell of Crocker Lake Boulevard in Sarasota, Florida, was driving erratically on Route 104 near the college entrance shortly before 3 a.m. Sunday.

They stopped him at Hillside Avenue.

Police said he had 17.9 ounces of marijuana.

They also charged him with refusing to take a breath test, failing to obey a traffic device, drinking alcohol in a vehicle on the roadway and having insufficient taillights.

Russell was arraigned in Oswego City Court and released on bail, to reappear in court Tuesday, May 13.
