Updates From Recent Girls’ Lacrosse Action

Vs. Central Square
Visiting Central Square came out quick against us and played a tough possession and draw control game in the first half.

We were down the whole game until the last minute of regulation play.

The second half we did a much better job of on the circle and won numerous draw controls and had much better and longer possession of the ball.

Abby Yurkon had several big saves for us as time was winding down to keep us in the game and her outlet passes proved to be a huge help.

We were able to tie it 9-9 with less than a minute to go in the game and forced the overtime.

In overtime we had good possession that lead to a good charge down the field with a few passes and a great ground ball pick up by Reagan Thompson right in front of the cage to put the final goal away for us to come away with the overtime win.

This game was dedicated to our beloved trainer Michele Wink and we were honored to be able to have her husband, Tim, at the game.

It meant a lot to get the win tonight and to have him and so many family and friends who came out as well.

We see Central Square again on Friday when we head to their turf for another league match up.

Vs. Fulton
We played host to a very offense minded Fulton.

Fulton has some outstanding shooters in their lineup and their record and game play shows it.

They jumped out quickly and their draw control game was a huge part of that.

They have a great draw control player in Hailey Carroll on their hands and she makes her presence felt on that circle.

We had several good scoring chances in the first half just did not captialize on the few mistakes Fulton made.

Our goalie Abby Yurkon had a great game with 17 saves.

The fact she is so willing to put her body in front of a ball day in and day out is the reason we have been able to stay in some of our tougher games this season.

We have three games left to finish out the season and hope we can keep some momentum going our direction as we head to Central Sqaure friday, host our senior night Monday Vs. ES-M and then finish the regular season in Homer next Wednesday.
